Shiatsu Massage

Shiatsu is a form of acupressure massage therapy usually suggested when there seems to be channel blockage and tightness. This treatment is used to invigorate and stimulate the various channels on the body associated with the diagnosis. I tend to add some shiatsu massage to areas of the body that feel locked up or are painful upon pressure. This is part of the acupuncture treatment or can be scheduled separately.  This technique can move blood stagnation and encourage pain relief. This helps to balance a normal flow of energy or Qi and therefore, helps our body to heal in a more natural way. The massage is usually performed on a cushion or floor mat with the client fully clothed. I would suggest that the client wear loose fitting clothing for a more relaxing treatment. The massage can last up to an hour and most clients tend to express a euphoric feeling upon completion.  So don’t plan a lot afterward and drink water to stimulate a good restful response.
